Dear Families,

Happy Halloween!  We had a fun filled day. We even snuck in a little learning about Colorado Native Americans and basket weaving.

Please remember that we have not one, but two field trips next week.  

The Colorado State Capitol trip is Monday, November 5.

The trip to Historic Fort Lupton is Friday, November 9.

All students should wear good walking shoes and bring a disposable sack lunch (no lunch boxes) for both field trips.  The trip on Friday to Historic Fort Lupton is mostly outdoors so be sure they dress for the weather.

4th Grade Field Trips!

In support of our Science and Social Studies curriculum,

4th grade is planning the following trips.We are still putting

the final touches on our schedule.  

We will let you know the dates ASAP

Colorado State Capitol Building Two History Colorado Museum in-house visits Adams County Museum Historic Fort Lupton One Room Schoolhouse Mountain Man/ Weaving Exhibit Golden History Museum (in-house) DMNS in-house visit

The total cost of all field trips and activities will be $25 per student
due on or before October 12th.

Individual field trip permission forms will be sent home for each event.

Salt Dough Recipe- Due October 5

Homework Assignment: making salt dough

We will be making relief maps during our study of Colorado regions and need
salt dough so that we can build the maps at school. Students will be

responsible for bringing their own dough.The recipe is as follows:

2 cups flour

1 cup regular table salt

2 tablespoons of cooking oil

¾ cup water

Yellow and green food coloring

Mix flour and salt together in a bowl. Add the oil to the water. Pour the

water mixture slowly into the flour mixture, mixing it with your hands until it

becomes soft and doughy. The dough needs to be the consistency
of “playdough” that you buy in the store.
It should not stick to your hands.
If the dough is too sticky, mix in a bit more flour.  

If you bring gooey, sticky dough to school you will
have a very difficult time making your map!

Divide your dough into thirds. Color a third of your dough green. Color a

third of your dough yellow. This can be done using food coloring.
Leave the last third uncolored (white/tan).

Put each ball of dough into individual Ziploc bags.
Put all of these bags in a large Ziploc bag.
Put your name on the large bag with permanent marker.

** You might want to bring an extra cup of flour in a separate Ziploc bag

to school with your dough in case it turns out to be too sticky to work with.

Don’t forget to write your name on your bag with a permanent marker!
